In today's increasingly globalized world, DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) has become a pivotal force driving Hitachi Group's growth-oriented business strategy. Therefore, at the beginning of the new fiscal year, Hitachi Group has decided to establish a DEI Committee in China to fully embrace its DEI initiatives. Through various DEI-themed events and business case sharing, all employees will be genuinely engaged, transforming HIES into a truly global organization and achieving sustainable development.
On November 14th, the FY2024 HIES China DEI Project officially kicked off, with the first batch of DEI Committee members in China gathering in Suzhou to conduct a series of discussions on deeply implementing DEI culture, fostering a close connection between each member and the DEI values.
During the opening session of the launch event, two key guests, HIES CHRO Kawabata san and HIES CDEIO Jessica Bailey, delivered speeches on the establishment of the China DEI Committee. Additionally, Jessica and the DEI project leader in Japan, Miyakoshi san, shared valuable experiences and notable achievements from promoting DEI in US and Japanese companies, providing invaluable perspectives and inspiration for deepening DEI culture in China.
Currently, both the US and Japan have gradually established a comprehensive DEI management system, which not only enhances corporate diversity but also fosters fairness and inclusion among employees, laying a solid foundation for attracting and retaining top talent and distinguishing the enterprise in fierce market competition.
Following the opening speeches, four other committee members engaged in a series of discussions on different topics including DEI promotion, gender equality, mental health, and multiculturalism.
HGAP-SZ Senior HR Manager Grace Gong stated, "The successful launch of the FY2024 HIES China DEI Project marks a significant milestone in implementing DEI culture across group companies. Through these in-depth discussions, we will draw on past valuable experiences, clarify improvement action plans, and leverage differentiation to create competitive advantages for the enterprise, helping our team cooperate sincerely and move towards the future."
